17 Jan Let’s Pray: Praying for the marriage of your dreams!
- Hello and happy new year. Welcome to episode 281 of #MrMrsBetterHalf. Mr. & Mrs Better Half is designed to strengthen marriages & relationships that will lead to marriage, with wisdom from God’s Word.
- 2020 is a season of new beginnings! At The Elevation Church, we are currently in a season of prayer and I know it would be beneficial if we also were to pray for our (future) marriages and relationships.
- I know not all the followers of this relationship series are Christians but I crave your indulgence for this episode and the next, as we will be sharing relationship prayer points for married couples and singles.
- I also encourage you to read through the tweets and pray along. Relationships and marriages are complex institutions and divine help goes a long way to building a solid home.
- Today’s prayer points are for the married folks. It doesn’t matter the state of your marriage, whether you are both on cloud 9 or if you are on the verge of calling it quits, join in.
- Take each point, check the scripture reference and pray about them sincerely. If you can pray them with your spouse, great, but if not, go ahead and pray on your own and on both your accounts.
- A) Good communication: pray that God will help you better communicate with your spouse. That you will speak with love, understanding and clarity. Ephesians 4:29
- B) Pray that God will make you and your spouse best of friends, able to speak with each other, share love and challenges, plan for the future and be partners indeed. Proverbs 18:24
- C) Pray for necessary endings and new beginnings. Sometimes things need to end for new things to begin. Is there an obstacle that is hindering progress in your marriage? Is there an unfruitful 3rd party relationship that needs to be severed?
- Pray that anything that is an obstacle in your marriage be removed and that it will give way for God to do His will in your home and in your marriage. Pray that God’s Spirit will breathe newness to every part of your home. Isaiah 40: 8
- D) Pray that the Lord will help you to be faithful to your spouse. That you will develop the discipline to not succumb to temptation and that your focus will be on your spouse. Proverbs 6:32, Hebrews 13:4
- Pray for the wisdom to guard your heart and to separate yourself from the evil association. And that you will recognize and flee from temptation when it surfaces.
- E) Pray for your individual and joint finances. Pray that God will bless your seeds and your labour. That your home will prosper in every good work and your labour will not be in vain. Psalm 90: 17
- Pray that the Lord will restore every financial loss you may have suffered in the past. Receive wisdom to be a good steward of money and to save, invest and plan for a good future for your family. Psalms 112:3
- F) Pray for your (future) children – either biological, adopted or spiritual. That they will excel and be great, that they grow in the way of the Lord and impact their generation. Pray that they are sound academically, emotionally, spiritually and in every aspect of life. Psalm 127:3-5
- G) Pray for your in-laws and extended family, that the Lord keeps, protects and provides for them. Receive wisdom to relate with them in love and that you all will be a family that lives in peace. Romans 12:9-10
- H) Pray for your jobs and/or businesses. Ask the Lord to bless the works of your hands and your family income. That your harvest will be bountiful and the windows of heaven are constantly open over you. Proverbs 16:3, James 1:5
- Pray for the wisdom to excel in your enterprises and the strength and wisdom to work hard and on profitable ventures. Pray against laziness and idleness that leads to poverty (Proverbs 24:33) and commit to being enterprising.
- I) Pray against attacks of the enemy in your home and marriage. Declare that the angels of God are always on guard and that your lives and property are healthy safe. 2 Thessalonians 3:3, Isaiah 41:10
- J) Pray for good health for your immediate and extended family. That this year and beyond, you all enjoy good health. That you will not spend on sicknesses of any kind and that your souls will also prosper. 3 John 1:2
- K) Pray that your marriage flourishes in love and peace. Rebuke every spirit of anger, distrust, and quarrels. Declare that you live in a positive environment and that you enjoy the peace of God. Ephesians 3:17, 1 Peter 4:8
- L) Receive fresh fire for your marriage. Pray that romance and love will not diminish in your home and that you and your partner will always want each other. Proverbs 5:18-19
- M) Pray specifically for your spouse, that God will grant him or her the desires of his/her heart, that s/he will come to a deeper understanding of God and that s/he will enjoy personal fulfilment this year.
- Pray that s/he will be in good health and of sound mind, that s/he will be bold and courageous and will conquer new territories. 2 Timothy 1: 7.
- N) Pray for the grace to submit to one another in the fear of God. Husbands, pray for the grace to truly love your wives, wives pray for the grace to love and respect your husbands. Ephesians 5: 22-33
- O) Pray that you will grow deeper in love with each other. That many waters will not quench your love, and that your marriage will be like fine wine…getting better with age. Song of Solomon 8: 7
- Let us thank God for answered prayers. I hope you have been blessed by these prayer points. I will be back next week with prayer points for the singles.
